Ford Pulley Selection Guide

Ford Small Block Pulleys

We have one of the most complete lines of 302 Ford Small Block Pulleys in the industry. We offer three basic types of Ford small block pulleys, which are chosen depending on the number of crank pulley bolts and which water pump is used. Below are the key differentiators, to tell which pulley is required for your vehicle.

  • Bolt Pattern on Crankshaft.

Pre-1969 passenger cars & pre-1977 trucks have 3 bolts. Later models have 4 bolts.

  • Lower Radiator Hose Position.

Australian Driver or Passenger Side location identifies pump length & determines the correct pulleys.

The early Ford pulleys have a 3 bolt pattern on the crankshaft while the later model ones have a 4 bolt pattern.  The changeover year is generally 1969 for passenger cars and 1977 for pick-up trucks and Broncos.  The next most important thing when selecting the right Ford pulley kit is to identify whether you have the short or long water pump.  We have found that the easiest way to identify your water pump is to look at which side the lower radiator hose outlet is on (passenger or drivers side).
